The gemstones available for direct ordering are those shown in the selector on the product page. If you are looking for a different gemstone, simply use the customization form. Our workshop has a wide selection of stones that are not necessarily displayed online, so there is a good chance we may have exactly what you are looking for in stock.

Can I choose the size of the gemstone?

Yes. Several sizes are generally available, usually between 8 and 12 mm, depending on the gemstone and current availability. If you would prefer a different size, let us know through the customization form. We will check the options currently available in our workshop.

Can I choose the exact gemstone that will be set on my necklace?

Yes, upon request. As every natural gemstone has its own shades, inclusions and variations, you can contact us before your necklace is made to let us know your preferences: a lighter or darker stone, greater transparency, more visible natural variations, or a more uniform appearance. Depending on availability, we can offer you a selection to choose from.

What types of chains are available?

Depending on the options shown on the product page, the necklace can be made with a 925 sterling silver chain, an 18K gold chain, or a gold-plated finish. The options displayed in the selector correspond to the configurations currently available to order.

What is the quality of your gold-plated chain?

We select jewelry-quality gold-plated chains. Their appearance can evolve over time, particularly through friction, perspiration, perfume or chlorine. Remove the necklace before showering, swimming, exercising and sleeping, and use a soft, non-abrasive cloth to preserve the plating.

Which chain length should I choose?

A 40 cm chain generally sits relatively close to the neck, while a 44 cm chain allows the gemstone to sit slightly lower. The final look will also depend on your body shape and neck size. If you would like a specific length, you can request it through the customization form.

Are all the gemstones identical?

No, and that is precisely part of their character. Natural gemstones may vary in color, transparency, veining and inclusions. No two stones of the same variety will therefore ever be perfectly identical. These natural variations are not considered defects.

Will the gemstone I receive look exactly like the one in the photographs?

The photographs show the design and the general appearance of the selected gemstone. As these are natural stones, the gemstone used for your necklace may show slight variations in color, transparency, patterns or inclusions. If the exact appearance of your stone is important to you, feel free to ask to see the stones currently available before your necklace is made.

Can I request a gemstone that is not shown on the website?

Yes. Our workshop works with a wide variety of natural gemstones, and not everything currently available is necessarily listed online. Aquamarine, amethyst, citrine, labradorite, lapis lazuli, rose quartz, Larimar, and other gemstones may be available depending on our current stock. Simply let us know what you are looking for.

Can I combine several gemstones on the same necklace?

The standard design features a single gemstone, but we can explore a different creation for you. Use the customization form to tell us which gemstones, colors or sizes you would like. Our workshop will confirm what is possible and, if applicable, any difference in price.

Can the gemstone be replaced with a cultured pearl?

Depending on the desired design, yes. Kalinas & Tainos works with Tahitian cultured pearls, Australian South Sea cultured pearls and freshwater cultured pearls. If you would like to keep the spirit of this necklace while replacing the gemstone with a pearl, contact us and we can suggest a suitable adaptation.

How should I care for my gemstone and chain?

As much as possible, avoid contact with perfume, cosmetics, household products, chlorine and seawater. We recommend removing your necklace before showering, swimming, exercising or sleeping. After wearing it, gently wipe the jewelry with a soft cloth and store it separately to help prevent scratches and friction.
