For over fifteen years, Kalinas & Tainos has been designing and assembling customizable jewelry in Saint-Barthélemy, combining Tahitian, South Sea, freshwater, and Akoya cultured pearls, rare conch pearls, gemstones, ancient coins, kangaroo leather, sterling silver 925, and gold. Before storing your necklace, gently wipe the pearl with a soft, dry cloth. This removes perspiration, cosmetics and other residues that may affect the materials over time, even while the piece remains in its jewelry box. Store it separately from other jewelry to limit friction.

What do the Short, Classic and Long lengths mean?

These options allow you to choose the necklace length according to the look you prefer: closer to the neck, at a medium length, or sitting lower on the chest. Don’t worry: in most cases, the Classic length is a perfect fit. However, our goal is to create a piece of jewelry that suits your body shape and personal preferences as closely as possible, so you can choose a different length if you prefer.

Can I wear my leather necklace in the shower, sea or swimming pool?

Yes, you can! However, we recommend removing your necklace before showering or swimming in the sea or a pool. Water, salt and chlorine, as well as repeated wet/dry cycles, can gradually dry out and stiffen the leather and accelerate wear.

Can I sleep or exercise while wearing my necklace?

It is best to remove your necklace before sleeping or exercising. Friction, tension and perspiration can accelerate wear on the leather and, over time, weaken the jewelry.

How often should I condition the leather?

This depends greatly on the wearer and how often the jewelry is worn. Some people’s skin naturally conditions the leather, while others tend to dry it out.

If you notice that the leather is becoming dry or less flexible, you can lightly condition it. If your skin tends to dry out the leather, conditioning it approximately once a week may be appropriate. A very small amount of vegetable oil or shea butter is sufficient; simply remove any excess with a soft cloth.

What should I do if the leather on my necklace becomes worn or breaks?

Leather naturally wears over time, but this does not mean the end of your jewelry. Our workshop can replace the leather while preserving the pearls, gemstones and other elements of your creation.

How much does it cost to replace the leather?
