Care Guide to Using and Maintaining Cultured Pearls

THE ESSENTIAL CARE GUIDE OF CULTURED PEARLS
Cultured pearls are gems of the nature. Taking care of your Freshwater pearls jewelry, Tahitian and Australian pearls is essential to preserve them in all of their original splendor.
Here are our precautions and practical advice:
1. Sensitivity of pearls
2. Drying and cracking of the Mother-of-pearl
3. Calcareous and organic, the pearl is sensitive to atmospheric agents. With the high heat, it can dry out and crack: also this is the fate of necklaces that remain locked at the bottom of drawers.
4. Alteration of the pearl
What alters the organic matter also affects the pearl, especially acid liquids, perfumes or even its worst enemy: perspiration. It dies: it loses its color, its orient tarnishes and it is hardly possible to repair the damage.
5. Golden rule: Avoid touching your pearls during a physical sport activity.
CULTURED PEARL STORAGE
The Mother-of-pearl is a fragile material which can be scratched if it is exposed to shocks. Contact with other jewelry is also not recommended.
Pearl jewelry, necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings or pendants can be stored in their original pocket or wrapped in a soft fabric to avoid scratches.
CLEANING OF CULTURED PEARLS
A pearl necklace, or other type of jewelry, should be regularly wiped with a soft, damp cloth.
Remember to clean each pearl thoroughly, even in less accessible places.
Then leave the jewel in the open air so that it dries, without rubbing (to avoid possible scratches).
PROTECTING YOUR CULTURED PEARLS
Do not put your pearls in contact with detergents, chemicals of any kind (including chlorine), perfume, deodorants, acid substances or even high heat (risk of dehydration) under penalty of seeing your jewelry fade.
OUR JEWELS IN EVERYDAY LIFE
Our jewelry can be worn daily. Our hand-rolled leather is of very good quality. It can be occasionally soaked (sea/shower).
However for daily and prolonged use of our jewelry, we do not advise you to take a shower and sleep with it. This will shorten the life of the jewel: the leather will be damaged more quickly and the holding of the jewel will be less pleasant to the eye. It is also advisable to hydrate the leather with shea butter, coconut oil, monoi or other fatty substances.
