Freshwater pearls are cultured pearls produced by mollusks living in freshwater environments. They occur in a broad range of shapes, sizes and colors. A semi-round shape is visually close to round while retaining slight natural irregularities that make each pearl individual.

Kalinas & Tainos is a French-Caribbean jewelry brand founded in Saint-Barthélemy in 2011, where every creation draws inspiration from the sea, travel, and the beauty of natural materials.

At the heart of the brand is Jérémy, its founder and creative director, originally from Provence. For over fifteen years, Kalinas & Tainos has been designing and assembling customizable jewelry in Saint-Barthélemy, combining Tahitian, South Sea, freshwater, and Akoya cultured pearls, rare conch pearls, gemstones, ancient coins, kangaroo leather, sterling silver 925, and gold. Each creation is designed to reveal the unique character of these materials through an elegant, timeless style deeply inspired by the art of living in Saint-Barthélemy.

More than a piece of jewelry, Kalinas & Tainos seeks to convey an emotion, a travel memory, and a lasting connection to Saint-Barth. Each creation is designed to accompany its wearer through the years and stand the test of time, like the memory of a precious moment.

The MOKUBA cord version can be worn in water. After swimming, rinse the bracelet with fresh water and let it air-dry naturally. To preserve the pearl and the link for longer, remove the piece before exercising, showering and sleeping, and limit contact with cosmetics and chlorine. Remove the leather version before swimming.

Before storing the bracelet, gently wipe the pearl and the link with a soft, dry cloth to remove perspiration, cosmetics and other residues that may affect the materials over time, even while the piece remains in its jewelry box. Store it separately from other jewelry.

What type of cord do you use for your bracelets?

Since 2011, we have used a 1.5 mm MOKUBA polyester cord reinforced with an inner nylon thread. This construction provides flexibility and durability while significantly reducing the risk of breakage during everyday wear.

After more than fifteen years of using this cord in our creations, we have not encountered recurring issues with allergies or eczema caused by friction. Its comfort and durability are why it has become one of the signatures of our adjustable jewelry.

Is the bracelet adjustable?

Yes. Our cord bracelets feature sliding knots that allow you to easily adjust the bracelet around your wrist. You therefore do not need to know your exact wrist measurement. The size you select mainly helps us create a bracelet suited to your wrist. A simple tip: in most cases, you can choose the same size as your T-shirt.

How do I choose the right bracelet size?

Simply choose the size that best matches your wrist. The sliding knots will then allow you to fine-tune the fit.

Can I wear my bracelet in the water?

Yes. Our MOKUBA cord bracelets can be worn in water. After swimming in the sea or a pool, we simply recommend rinsing the jewelry with fresh water and allowing it to dry naturally. To preserve the pearls or gemstones for as long as possible, however, avoid repeated exposure to chemicals, cosmetics and chlorine.

Can I wear my bracelet every day?

Yes. MOKUBA cord is particularly well suited to everyday wear. As with any jewelry worn regularly, a few simple precautions will help preserve both its appearance and the beauty of the pearls, gemstones or other components for longer.

How long does the cord last?

For a bracelet worn every day, including regularly in water, the cord will generally last around 3 years. This is an estimate, as its lifespan depends on factors such as swimming, perspiration, friction and individual wearing habits.

What happens if the cord becomes worn or breaks?

Simply contact us. Our workshop can replace the cord while preserving the pearls, gemstones and other components of your bracelet. Normal cord wear therefore does not mean the end of your jewelry.

Can I choose the color of the cord?

Yes. The colors currently available are shown in the selector when ordering. If you are looking for a different color or combination, use the customization form and our workshop will check the available possibilities.

Can I choose a leather version?

Yes. Depending on the design, our adjustable bracelets can also be made with leather upon request or when this option is available. Leather gives the jewelry a different character but requires a little more care than MOKUBA cord.

Can I wear the leather version in the water?

We do not recommend it. As leather is an organic material, water, perspiration and repeated wet/dry cycles can gradually dry it out and accelerate its aging. To extend its lifespan, remove your leather bracelet before swimming, showering, exercising or sleeping. When the leather becomes dry, it can be lightly conditioned with a suitable oil or shea butter.

What is the difference between MOKUBA cord and leather?

MOKUBA cord is lightweight, durable and suitable for everyday wear, including in water. Leather offers a more organic look and develops a patina over time, but requires more care and is less suited to repeated exposure to water and perspiration.

Can I further customize my cultured pearl bracelet?

Yes. Depending on the design, you can request another size, a different color, another cord, a leather version or certain changes to the composition. Use the customization form and our team will confirm what is possible with the materials currently available in our workshop.

Will the bracelet I receive look exactly like the photographs?

The photographs show the design and its general appearance. Cultured pearls, gemstones and other natural materials may present subtle variations in shape, color, surface or tone. These differences are part of their character and make each bracelet slightly unique.

Can this bracelet be made for a child?

When this option is available, yes. Thanks to the sliding knot system, an exact wrist measurement is not necessary. Simply select the size that best matches the child’s wrist.

Where is my bracelet assembled?

Our creations are designed and assembled in Saint-Barthélemy. Each bracelet is prepared and adjusted according to the options selected when you place your order.

How should I store my bracelet?
